There are stories that go beyond cycling. Stories of people who, in these 15 years of traveling on two wheels, have left an indelible imprint in my heart. Today, I want to introduce a new column that has a very special meaning for me: “Amici Miei ” (literally, My Friends).

It will not be the usual review blog this time. It will be an intimate journey through the human relationships that have given flavor to my adventures. I will introduce you to “that great genius of my friend” from Valdarno who, with a screwdriver in his hand, works miracles, doing it with passion in the eyes of those who deeply love their craft.  

I will tell you about those devilish chefs who serve Tuscan food in their restaurants nestled in the hills surrounded by vineyards, where every dish tells a story of tradition, and every time I enter their places, I feel at home.

Through “Amici Miei” I will share with you those places and people who represent the true soul of Italy on two wheels. From the best mechanics in the country, who have made cycling an art form, to the Chefs who welcome you after a long ride with a plate of pici all’aglione that makes you forget the effort you have put in. From the hoteliers who have become real friends, who know your habits and are waiting to have coffee with you.

This series  is my way of saying thank you to those who, over all these years, have turned simple bicycle trips into unforgettable experiences. It is my personal diary of authentic friendships, born while pedaling the roads of Italy, and especially of Tuscany.

Get ready to meet my dearest Friends, the real ones. Those who made every mile traveled a precious memory.
